Richard Simmons May PE Update |
|
Dear Ask America Supporters,
You have proven without a doubt..... there is strength in numbers.....and letters,....... bringing FIT Kids to the attention of our leaders and law makers in Washington D.C., all the while earning the appreciation and support of educators and their respective organizations from across the nation! Very impressive indeed!
And if that wasn't enough.......you have always been there for RICHARD as he makes sure that the FIT Kids Bill and the PE CRUSADE stay on the "front burner" in the media for 3 years and counting now!
Nothing truly meaningful goes unnoticed for very long.
Your tenacity continues to call attention and interest to Richard's PE CRUSADE. Case in point: FIT Kids will soon be getting some BIG support from the BIG APPLE.
New York City Councilman, Tony Avella, is preparing to fulfill his earlier pledge to RICHARD. The Councilman is making plans to introduce a city-wide resolution calling on Congress to pass the FIT Kids Act. More details from Richard, on the announcement will follow for those of you in the greater New York area. Thank you so much Councilman Avella.
We are also very pleased and proud to tell you about a recent conversation between RICHARD and the most respected..... Dr. Mehmet Oz.
Besides his "day-job" as a world class cardiac surgeon, Dr. Oz is very involved in health care reform, education and his own non-profit organization, HealthCorps.
(HealthCorps is a "Peace Corps" for health education and activism, providing peer-mentoring programs in High Schools across the country. For more information on HealthCorps, initiating the program in your high school, or volunteering, please see www.healthcorps.org)
Both Dr. Oz and our current administration believe strongly in PREVENTION. Therefore Dr. Oz is very interested in, and supportive of, RICHARD'S (and yours) unwavering work for FIT Kids and the return of quality, innovative, effective physical education to the national school curriculum.
Dr. Oz, a regular contributor on the Oprah Winfrey Show, and a regular host of the radio show...Oprah and Friends, has invited Richard to join him on the radio discussing FIT Kids, the PE Crusade and Richard' lifelong work. More details to follow on that appearance as well. Thank you very much Dr. Oz and Michelle Beauchard of Healthcorps.
National PE WEEK is the first week of May this year, and the American College of Sports Medicine has named May as "Exercise is Medicine" month.
Richard too, has a spring and summer full of appearances and plans for FIT Kids, with ever an eye on Washington, should they need him back soon.
As you can see, your efforts are not for naught. Rather, your powerful letters and their powerful messages are reaching far and wide. Thank you, thank you, thank you...and please keep writing....and, keep talking.
More information on upcoming appearances, events and "live chats" Richard has planned will be available soon.
With much much respect, appreciation and admiration,
Ask America
